Attached ADU

With this project, my client's vision was to convert an existing shed into a livable space for his children. Per City request, only 40% of the main existing dwelling was permitted. That gave us 740 SQ.FT. and a 24 ft' height to build.  


I was able to support my client by filling out the required city forms and navigating the building premit and approval process with the city of Hayward.

My client's must-haves:

  • 2 bedrooms

  • 1 bathroom 

  • 1 kitchen open space

  • 1 living open space 

  • 1 garage (City request) 

  • Laundry room inside the garage 

  • Stairs outside to maximize interior space
